Robert J. Baptista was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey and attended the Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey from which he received his B.S. degree in 1966 and his PhD in 1972. He has been employed by the Verona Dyestuffs Corporation, Mobay and Miles, Inc. among others.
